ART/EMIS is an intersectional design organization on the USC campus. I was the Design Director of ART/EMIS while there.
I was tasked with creating a logo for them that represents them and could be used across their socials, and on physical merch, like stickers and tote bags.
In my designs, I wanted there to be an easily recognizable iconography. I wanted something people can relate to, as ART/EMIS puts much emphasis on community building with art. I also wanted to share the charming vibe of the organization through bright colors as that pop out on their socials when used as branding.
What came to be was a hand drawn logo that had complementary colors that attract the eye and a flexible design that can be used for different uses of the organization.
That to create one design that fits all, you have to make it flexible to different uses. In order for the logo to be transferred over to print on stickers and tote bags, I had to alter the design (colors, size, etc.) in specifc ways to fit the new application.
